Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) was established in 1973. The Board then focused the next three years in framing Rules and Regulations, Curricula and Syllabi for its smooth and active conduct in the field of State education. On 1st January, 1976, the Board officially started conducting and monitoring all the academic functions of the schools affiliated with it.

Tripura Board of Secondary Education is a state agency of the Government of Tripura which is responsible for the promotion and development of secondary education in the state. One of its main functions is to conduct the annual, public Class X examination.
