The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) came into existence in the year 1975 by an Act of the Legislature to reform, recognize and consolidate school education in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education follows a semester system.
Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations or class XII exams are conducted twice in a year under semester system in accordance with the syllabi prescribed by the Board.
